Vishing (Voice Phishing)

Vishing, short for Voice Phishing, is a type of scam where attackers use the phone to trick people into giving up their personal information. Just like phishing, vishing is a type of hacking where cybercriminals pretend to be someone else to get sensitive information.

During a vishing scam, the attacker will call the target and try to convince them to give up their sensitive information such as name, address, and even bank account details. They might pretend to be a bank, tax office or even a government agency.

These attacks can be sophisticated and convincing, so it’s essential to stay aware and not give out any private details over the phone. If you receive a call from someone you don’t know asking for sensitive information, it’s always better to hang up and call the company back directly to verify the call. Remember, it’s always better to be safe than sorry!
