Tabnabbing Attack

Tabnabbing attack is a type of hacking attack where an attacker deceives a user by changing the contents of a previously opened tab in a web browser. This can happen when a user leaves a webpage unattended for a long time or opens several tabs, and the attacker alters the content of a tab to mimic an authentic webpage, such as the user’s email or banking login page. When the user switches back to the tab, the fake page prompts them to enter sensitive information, such as their login credentials. Once entered, the attacker can use that information to gain unauthorized access to the user’s accounts or steal their personal data.

To avoid falling victim to a tabnabbing attack, it’s important to always be cautious when entering personal information online. Users should also ensure that they are using secure websites (https) and update their passwords frequently. Additionally, users should close any unused browser tabs when leaving their computer unattended.
