Sybil-Attack

Sybil attack is a type of computer attack where an attacker creates multiple fake identities or accounts to appear as many different people. The attacker then uses these accounts to gain an unfair advantage over other users on a network or platform.

For example, if someone creates 10 fake accounts on a social media platform, they could use these accounts to artificially boost the popularity of their posts, or to discredit other users by pretending to be multiple people who disagree with them. This is harmful because it can distort the information available on the platform, and make it harder for users to trust what they see and read.

One way to prevent Sybil attacks is to use identity verification techniques, such as requiring users to provide a phone number or government ID to sign up for an account. Another approach is to use reputation-based systems, where users are rated by other users for their behavior on the platform, and accounts with low reputation are flagged and potentially banned.
