Security Misconfiguration
“Security Misconfiguration” is a really big word that describes a really big problem in the world of computers. Basically, it means that when someone is setting up a computer system, they haven’t done it in a way that keeps it safe from bad people who might want to do bad things.
For example, let’s say you have a website that you want people to be able to visit. If you don’t set it up in a safe way, bad people might be able to get into it and see things they’re not supposed to see, or even change things on your website without you knowing!
This can happen for a lot of different reasons - maybe the person setting up the computer system didn’t know how to do it properly, or they were in a hurry and didn’t take the time to make it safe, or maybe they just didn’t realize how important it was to set it up in a secure way.
So if you hear someone talking about “security misconfiguration,” what they really mean is that someone didn’t set up a computer system in the right way to keep it safe from bad people. And that can be a really big problem!”
