Rootkit

A rootkit is a type of computer software that can hide itself from regular antivirus programs and can do naughty things that you wouldn’t want it to do. It can give hackers access to your computer without you knowing, steal your personal information, and even take over your computer completely.

The name “rootkit” comes from the idea of a “root” or “administrator” user on a computer system who has access to everything. Rootkits work by modifying the operating system of your computer and can be really tricky to find and remove.

It’s important to protect your computer from rootkits by having strong antivirus software installed, keeping your operating system and other programs up-to-date, and being careful about the websites you visit and the programs you download.
