Log File Replay Attack

A Log File Replay Attack is a type of security attack that can happen in the computer world. It’s when a bad guy takes a record of the commands that someone else (like you or me) sent to a computer, and then sends those same commands again in the future to trick the computer into thinking they are from the same person.

Imagine when you play a game with your friend, and your friend says “move left, jump, shoot”, and you do those things on your screen. If a bad guy was spying on your game, they could write down those commands in their own log file. Then, later on, they could send those same commands to your computer, even though they aren’t really your friend.

This can be a problem because sometimes the commands that we send to computers have important information, like login details or secret messages. If a bad guy gets a hold of those commands, they could misuse that information.

So, it’s important to keep our log files safe and make sure that we only trust commands that we know are really from the people we think they are from.
