LAND Attack
A “LAND” attack is a type of computer hacking that can cause a person’s computer or server to crash. In this type of attack, the hacker sends a specific type of data packet to the victim’s computer or server, pretending to be from the victim’s own IP address. This can overload the victim’s computer or server, causing it to crash.
Think of it like your friend playing a prank on you by calling your phone over and over again. Eventually, your phone might get so overwhelmed with incoming calls that it crashes and stops working. A “LAND” attack works in a similar way, overwhelming a computer or server with fake requests until it crashes.
Luckily, this type of attack is not very common anymore because most operating systems have been updated to prevent it. But it’s still important to keep your computer and server up-to-date with the latest security updates to prevent other types of attacks.
