Homograph Attack

Homograph attack is a type of cyber attack where attackers use characters that looks very similar to the characters in a legitimate website’s domain name to deceive someone into visiting a fake website. For example, a hacker might use the letter “o” which looks very similar to the number “0” in a domain name, making it look like a legitimate website. When a user visits this fake website, they may unknowingly give away their personal information or become victim to other types of cyber attacks.

This type of attack exploits the fact that many character sets, like Latin or Cyrillic, contain visually similar characters that are hard to distinguish at first glance. Many web browsers now have security features that detect and block homograph attacks, but it’s still important to be vigilant and double-check the domain name before visiting a website or entering your personal information.
