Evil Twin-Attack

An Evil Twin Attack is a type of cyber attack that is done when someone creates a fake Wi-Fi network that looks just like a legitimate one.

For example, let’s say there is a coffee shop that has a Wi-Fi network called “CoffeeShopWiFi”. Someone wants to do an Evil Twin Attack, so they create their own fake Wi-Fi network with the same name “CoffeeShopWiFi”.

When unsuspecting people come to the coffee shop and try to connect to the Wi-Fi network, they might accidentally connect to the fake one instead of the real one. The attacker can then monitor their internet activity and even steal sensitive information like usernames and passwords.

It is important to always double-check that you are connecting to a legitimate Wi-Fi network, especially when you are in public places. One way to do this is to ask an employee of the establishment what the name of the Wi-Fi network is supposed to be, instead of just choosing the one that pops up on your device.
