Credential Stuffing
Credential stuffing is a type of cyber attack where a bad person tries to use stolen usernames and passwords to access someone’s online accounts. This is a big problem because some people use the same username and password for multiple accounts. So if a bad person knows your login information for one account, they can try to use it to get into your other accounts.
To do credential stuffing, bad people use special software that automatically tries lots of different username and password combinations on lots of different websites. This software can try thousands of combinations in just a few minutes! The bad person doesn’t have to figure out your password themselves, they just let the software do all the work.
If you have been the victim of a data breach, you should change your passwords for all of your accounts as soon as possible. This will help reduce the risk of a bad person using credential stuffing to get into your other accounts. And remember, always try to use strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts!
