Baiting Attack
A baiting attack is a type of cyber attack that tricks people into revealing their personal information or downloading malware onto their computer. This is done by luring the person into clicking on a link or opening an email attachment that appears to be legitimate but actually contains a virus or other dangerous software.
Baiting attacks can take many forms, such as offering a free download or promising a prize in exchange for personal information. They can also appear as legitimate emails from banks, retailers or other trusted sources. Once clicked or downloaded, the baiting attack can give the attacker access to the victim’s computer, personal information, passwords, and other sensitive information.
To protect yourself from baiting attacks, always be cautious when clicking on links or downloading attachments, especially if they come from unknown sources. Double-check the email address and URL to make sure it’s legitimate. Use antivirus software and keep it up-to-date to help detect and block any threats.
